Immediately Hired

Youngstown student Toni Palya (pictured) graduated from the health information technology degree (HIT) program at the end of the winter term on Friday, February 19th and she started her new career on the following Monday, February 22nd.
Toni is a full-time employee at One Health, also known as the Youngstown Community Health Center, a medical and dental facility for outpatient care. During the job interview, the interviewer stopped after Toni answered the question "Where do you see yourself in the HIT field?" Toni replied that in April she will take the professional medical coder certification (CPC) test, and in the summer, she will take the registered health information technician (RHIT) exam. Based on her response, she was hired immediately!
Toni's new job is in the medical records department with work hours of 8:30 to 5:00, which is just right for Toni and her young family. Prior to attending National, Toni worked in the banking industry, as a restaurant manager, and she did on-line inspection work for an auto parts manufacturer. With a new degree and a new career, she said, "Everyone needs an education."
She is very confident that she will be successful in this new career and knows that her education at National College was definitely the right choice for her and her family. She said the staff and instructors stood behind her through "trials and tribulations" and they went beyond their duties to help her reach her goals. She also said her children of 12 and 13 years have been strong and supportive. If she could put their names on the degree next to hers, she would.
